back at home
For those of you that don't already know our precious baby boy has had a hard past few days. We ended up being admitted to the hospital as Owen was having febrile seizures due to high fever. We were kept at the hospital for four days as they ran tests to try and figure out what had caused him to fever in the first place. Watching our son have seizures was the scariest thing I have ever been put through but watching countless nurses and doctors run tests and procedures on him was much worse. But as many close family and friends have shown me, what matters most is that Owen is now back at home heathy and happy. Yes this experience was traumatic and awful in basically every possible aspect but we are so lucky that it was nothing more serious than what it was. So as much as I could blog about every detail and explain to you all about the horrible events we went through over the last few days I have done that enough by speaking with friends, family and through my personal writing and I am at a point where I am finally starting to feel a bit more at peace with what happened to Owen. Also it was always my intension to keep this blog a positive place to show the beautiful snap shots if you will of Owen's life. So all in all just to update all of you that may not be aware as to how things are going. We finally got to speak with Owen's pediatrician once we were out of the hospital and he said the fever was most likely due to a virus called Roseola and that he didn't need any medications to treat it and to simply let the virus take its course. So we are now doing our best to keep our lil guy happy and well here at home, nursing a ton, lots of hugs a kisses of course and some simple natural home remedies to keep him comforted and to help him boost his immune system. And hopefully our little bug will be back playing at the beach again soon!

a day at the beach
As the days have been growing longer and a bit warmer with every passing day I have been craving a day at the beach. Going to the beach for our family is already almost a daily event however it has simply been too cold lately to let Owen crawl around on the sand and explore. So this morning when I woke up to a beautifully sunny and warm day I knew that today was going to be the perfect day for us to head to the beach. The ocean is the main reason why I moved to the west coast and when I'm by the water I always feel at peace and that much closer to mother nature and I couldn't wait to share that feeling with my precious baby boy. Of course he's been to the beach many times already but always in the ergo and only put down for a few seconds on his feet, never just left alone to explore his environment and to connect with the sand and water. Today was that day and it was absolutely amazing to watch his excitement and wonder come alive. We ended up being at the beach for almost 3 hours and he powered right through his regular nap time as the beach simply had too much to offer to loose that to sleep. Who needs sleep anyway when you've got an entire beach to explore!
Exploring the sand for the first time on his own.
I've always known that our lil Kai pie was a water baby, but not to this extent. He seriously couldn't get enough or any closer to the incoming waves. I of course being the protective mother didn't want him getting too close or really that wet either but he had other plans. He was ready to dive right in and splash around like a big kid. Of course I didn't let him do this, he is only 9 months after all and this is the pacific ocean of northern California, not Hawaii! However returning to our blanket set up further on shore was not an option in less I wanted to experience a serious melt down so I opted to run through the water and away from the crashing waves which made him giggle hysterically.
then it was time for a snack. A bit sandy but that didn't seem to bother him much.
and after some more time crawling around naked in the sand and playing with mama it was time to head back home for a big long nap.

gifts from the heart
Saturday morning our family received some very precious gifts. Owen's godmother, or comadre as we like to call her put her inspiring knitting skills to work and created our little O-bear a cozy little hat and some stylish baby leggings. Owen is a very lucky little boy to have such an amazing comadre that cares so deeply to give such great gifts from the heart. Here are a few photos from the morning we opened the package.
Owen playing with the envelopes as Papa reads Jenna's card to the family.
Noticing that he is always more interested in the wrapping of objects rather to the actual objets themselves. hmmmm...
So proud of his new leggings and happy to have some padding on those knees!
Thank you comadre for all the beautiful gifts!

today's inspirations
Get ready for a whole lot of pictures! For those of you out there who know me well you know my love for flowers and today I spent the day with my friend, her son and Owen at the local university arboretum and well I was very much inspired. Now by no means do I have a fancy dancy camera, I simply use my little sony cyber-shot digital. I can only dream of owning a real camera one day, oh how beautiful that day will be and how full of photograph my life will be!!! Till then I will give my little sony as much love as possible.
