Owen's First Christmas

Owen's first Christmas was very exciting. My parents were here from Canada as they are making their way down to Mexico for the winter and decided to make a stop off here to visit with Owen. Also Owen has now started crawling, he isn't getting around too fast just yet as he's still just experimenting with his new skill but it has definitely been fun watching him explore his new found surroundings. The downside however has been the added stress of worrying about he's going to be getting into next. On top of crawling O has four new teeth coming in on top which has made for a bit of a grumpy baby and he's also started clapping which is ridiculously cute. I've uploaded a video thats got him clapping below. I just can't believe all the milestones our baby has been achieving lately. Its so amazing to watch him grow and change so quickly.

Here's Owen crawling around on Christmas morning.

Bears, teething and bibs oh my!

Owen has never shown much interest in stuffed animals in till just recently. Last week as I was changing his diaper O began babbling and staring up at this white bear we've had up on a shelf since before he was born. I brought the bear down for him and since then they've been the best of friends! This morning it was the cutest thing, I had cleaned up his room the night before and put Bear back up on the shelf and then as we were dancing around this morning (a usual happening on most mornings) he pointed up at Bear and that just melted my heart. Now it's all about Bear for our lil guy!!

O giving Bear a great big kiss!

Other than new found obsessions with bears this week Owen has all been acting pretty fussy. Blame it on teething, new milestones, or vaccines either way our poor bug is not so happy and its making mama sad. However this morning I captured the cutest lil angry face and just had to share it with all of you.

Aside from bears and fussy baby's I received an early Christmas gift this past week, a new sewing machine and tonight I made my first project, a bib for our lil man. Its far from perfect but I had so much fun making it and I can't wait to take on more projects. I'll be sure to blog about my progress. Below is a picture of the bib I made tonight, my Mum picked out the fabric and I still have to sew on the button at the top. Tomorrow I'm off to Beverly's to pick out more fabric, fun, fun!!

Yesterday we went over to our friends Lori and Gian's house to make gingerbread houses. I hadn't made gingerbread houses since I was little and even then it was always the store bought boxed up ones. These Lori made from scratch and they were absolutely to die for!! Here are a few pictures from the night.

Getting started!

Pax wanted some candy so badly! Guess we'll be having the same problem with Owen this time next year!

Parks, christmas trees and warm cozy times by the fire

This past weekend was a great start to our first holiday together as a new family. Saturday we headed over to the park for a lil swing and slide action as this is Owen's new favorite activity. It was absolutely freezing out and actually snowing up in the Santa Cruz mountains, but completely worth while.

We then headed over to the harbor for the annual holiday boat parade where we were completely underdressed, meaning we should have been wearing snow suits, boots and probably even those scary looking face warmers, lol. Anyway we stuck it out to watch a bunch of boats lit up in holiday spirit parade around the SC harbor haha. No but really it was great, this will be a great holiday tradition as I'm sure Owen will be able to appreciate it a lot more as the years go on. The highlight of the night was this one boat that was definitely being driven by someone drunk off their **S lol. They almost drove the boat straight into the rocks, and actually would have if it wasn't for the harbor patrol that came to turn them around at the last minute. Their boat was just pilled with lights, making the boat tip side to side, so scary!! Here are a few pictures, keep in mind our camera takes awful pictures at night!!

The drunken boat!

The next day we were off to cut down our very first christmas tree. On our way up to the SC mountains it started to rain which was a huge bummer but luckly it didn't last long and when we arrived at the ranch it was fairly clear, however still freezing out!! Anyway this was the best christmas tree purchasing experience I have had since we use to live out in the boonies of Canada and would simply cut them down from our own back yard. Although nothing will ever live up to hiking in the secluded woods, sleigh in tale, snow up to your ears and no one in sight for miles, this is as close as it gets for us. Bella had a blast running around free and it was great to have Sal's family along with us.
