11 months

Owen at play with his friend Ari at Henry Cowell State Park.

Again another month has passed by and now Owen is only 3 weeks away from turning one. He isn't walking on his own yet but he loves to have me help him around walking by holding on to his hands and will actually take a few steps on his own. After about 2 or 3 steps however he sits back down and then looks for my hands or some nearby furniture to help himself back up. I actually think he has the ability to walk but is simply too cautious of a baby to go for if because when I take a hand away and try to have him stand on his own he will look around a bit frantic trying to find my hand to hold on to. Of course there is no rush, the longer my baby stays a baby the better!! Something else that is exciting is that Bella is finally playing with Owen. Before she would act uninterested or afraid of hurting him but in these last few weeks she has actually started to play back with O when he offers her one of her toys. Its so great to finally see them able to interact with each other. It makes Owen so happy and I know that as Owen gets older Bella will only get more and more interested in playing with him.

Some other fun things that Owen has discovered this month is waving bye-bye and pointing. He had started waving bye-bye at around 7 months although he wasn't very consistent with it. Now he will wave when he sees other babies or kids, he will wave if he hears the word bye-bye or if you wave at him. Its way too cute! As for the pointing, he is pointing at everything and anything of interest. The things I notice that he points at most often are, trees, flowers, dogs, and at things in his favorite books. Speaking of books something Owen does every day now is crawl over to his book shelf and he will find his favorite book "Cat on the Mat" and then he will proceed to bring it over to me, well actually most of the time he just throws it at my feet haha. Because throwing actually is another big hit this month. For awhile we had been trying to teach him how to throw the ball for the dogs but his motor skills just weren't ready yet and now he finally got it down and he now just loves throwing just about anything.

Teething has again come back into our lives as he is getting 4 new teeth. So we are back to munching on Sophie, sporting our amber necklace from his compadres, and sucking on highlands teething tablets. But the biggest change has been in the frequency of when he wants to nurse. He was down to nursing every 3 hours or so but now he is back to nursing every 2 hours or sometimes even more as its more for comfort than anything else. But as my lil' Kai pie approaches his one year mark I am actually thankful to have this closeness with him. I am so thankful to be able to share this beautiful bond with him and I know that when the day comes that he weans himself from my breast I will be a sad Mummy.
